Traduzindo Culturas (Translating Cultures) — Brazilian students reading Chinese authors

Accessibility and resources

Accessibility is part of what the project offers

At the events, in the books, in the documentary and on this website. This page sets out what is planned, what has already been confirmed and how each resource works.

At the events

  • Libras interpreter symbolLibras interpretation
  • International Symbol of AccessAccessible venue

Lectures on the tour are interpreted into Libras (Brazilian Sign Language). Each university is asked to confirm an accessible venue — ramp access, signage for visually impaired visitors and an accessible toilet — and an inclusive welcome for everyone who attends.

The promotional material for each city lists the resources confirmed for that event. Nothing unconfirmed is presented as a promise.

In the books

  • Accessible digital book symbolAccessible digital book

All five books are being released as digital editions in PDF/UA, the international standard for accessible PDFs: files that a screen reader can read in the correct order, with structure, language and image descriptions tagged within the document, and that anyone can download free of charge.

The five files will be published on the Books page, each with its verification report, by December 2026.

Teaching guides

Five guides, one per title, for use in the classroom: each book's central argument, its key concepts and suggested reading paths. They are in preparation and will be published on this page.

In the short documentary

  • Audio description symbolAudio description
  • Captions symbolCaptions and subtitles

The tour is being filmed by Laboratório Cisco. The short documentary, up to twenty minutes long, will be released in December as a single file in which viewers choose the features they need: subtitles in Portuguese, English and Chinese, audio description, and captions for deaf and hard-of-hearing viewers. The teasers are released with subtitles.

On this website

This website was built to be used with a keyboard and a screen reader: a clear structure of headings and landmarks, visible focus, colour contrast checked for every combination, a text description for every image that conveys information, and no content that depends on animation or scripts. Fonts and images are hosted on the site itself; there are no cookies and no tracking.
